Video Transcript:

Mold and mildew thrive in damp environments - both outdoors and indoors - where they can trigger a range of symptoms in people with mold and mildew allergies.

Mold and mildew release microscopic seeds into the air. These seeds, called spores, can cause allergy symptoms similar to other airborne allergens like pollen, dust, and dander. Initial exposure may trigger sneezing, a runny nose, and an itchy nose. And your eyes may start to water and feel like there is something in them.

With ongoing exposure, your existing symptoms worsen and new symptoms may develop, like stuffy nose, sinus pressure, and an itchy throat. If your symptoms worsen at a specific place, like your home or at work, but improve when you’re not there, then indoor mold may be the culprit. Your symptoms may continue virtually year round if you have an indoor mold problem or live in a damp climate.

Once you recognize the signs and symptoms of mold and mildew allergies, you can take steps to reduce exposure and prevent symptoms so you can feel confident as you take on the day.

Visit Zyrtec.com for more tips and tools to manage your allergies.

Man's best friend can be your allergy enemy. Here’s what to do.
Video Transcript:

Man's best friend may be no friend to you if you are among the roughly five million Americans with an allergy to dogs.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog - not even those expensive purebreds often marketed as "low shedding". That's because dog allergies are not caused by fur. It’s dog dander, saliva and urine that trigger allergy symptoms.

As dogs play, dander can become airborne. Contact with airborne dander may lead to common allergy symptoms, including sneezing, a runny nose, itchy nose and nasal congestion, itchy throat and itchy, watery, eyes.

Avoiding dogs and dog allergens helps prevent symptom flare ups, but that can be easier said than done. Dog owners carry unseen dander and other dog allergens on their clothes, so you can be exposed to dog allergens even if you don't have a dog.

But all is not lost. By recognizing dog allergy symptoms, you can better manage your condition and find relief from allergies triggered by man's best friend.

Visit Zyrtec.com for more tips and tools to manage your allergies.

Symptoms of an Allergy to Cats
Video Teaser:
Get the scoop on feline fur and the real cause of cat allergies.
Video Transcript:

Move over, Rover. Cats are the most popular pet in America. Not only are felines found in a whopping one-third of households, but cats are also the leading cause of pet allergies in the U.S.

Contrary to popular belief, fur does not actually cause cat allergies. It is cat dander and saliva that trigger symptoms. Within seconds to minutes of exposure sneezing may start, followed by a sudden runny nose, even itchy, watery eyes. The longer you are exposed, the worse your symptoms usually get, including ongoing nasal stuffiness, sinus pressure over the eyes or in the cheeks and an itchy throat.

So, avoiding cats altogether is the best way to minimize symptoms; but even then there are no guarantees. There are eighty-five million cats in U.S. homes and nearly as many strays. So just being out in public may expose you to enough cat allergens to develop an allergy and trigger symptoms.

But it's not all bad news - if you enjoy spending time around cats, talk with your doctor. Treatment can help relieve allergy symptoms and might help you enjoy Fluffy’s company for years to come.

For Allergy relief plus a powerful decongestant, ask for Zyrtec-D behind the Pharmacy Counter.
